Ministry of Industry Honors ETHYDCO for Receiving Carbon Footprint Verification Certificate

As part of Egypt’s Vision 2030 and the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources’ strategy to enhance environmental sustainability practices, reduce emissions, and improve resource efficiency, the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO) was honored for obtaining the Carbon Footprint Verification Certificate across all three scopes, recognizing it as a leading company in this field.
The ceremony was held under the patronage of Lieutenant General Engineer Kamel El Wazir, Deputy Prime Minister for Industrial Development and Minister of Industry and Transport, and was attended by Dr. Khaled Hassan Sufi, Chairman of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality, along with several leaders of major industrial companies.
This recognition comes in appreciation of ETHYDCO’s distinguished efforts in implementing environmental sustainability principles and advancing towards a low-carbon economy. The Environmental Performance Unit of the Egyptian Organization for Standardization commended the company’s commitment to adopting sustainable industrial practices that contribute to reducing the carbon footprint and enhancing the competitiveness of Egyptian products, affirming that ETHYDCO’s experience represents a pioneering model in the petrochemical sector both nationally and regionally.
On this occasion, Chemist Hisham Riad, Chairman and Managing Director of ETHYDCO, extended his congratulations to all company employees for this achievement, praising the vital role of the Environmental Protection Department, which played a key role in this success by implementing advanced systems for measuring and analyzing carbon emissions and preparing the company’s Carbon Footprint Report (Scope 1, 2 & 3) in accordance with the highest international standards. The company has also implemented effective programs to improve environmental performance across its operational sites.
This recognition represents another milestone in the success record of Egypt’s petroleum sector, and reflects ETHYDCO’s pioneering role in supporting national efforts to combat climate change and achieve environmental sustainability.
