The Egyptian Petrochemicals Holding Company (ECHEM) held the fourth periodic meeting of the Petrochemicals Production Committee for 2026 at the headquarters of the Egyptian Ethylene and Derivatives Company (ETHYDCO) in Alexandria, in line with the directives of Eng. Karim Badawi, Minister of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, to strengthen operational performance, enhance production efficiency, and promote integration among petrochemical companies.
The meeting was chaired by Chemist Alaa El-Din Abdel Fattah, Chairman of ECHEM, and attended by Dr. Mohamed El-Bagoury, Head of the Central Administration for Legal Affairs at the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources, and Chemist Hesham Riyad, Chairman and Managing Director of ETHYDCO, alongside ECHEM Vice Chairmen, senior executives, and chairmen of the sector’s companies
Participants reviewed key occupational safety and health indicators, production and sales performance, the availability of production feedstocks, maintenance programs, and ongoing projects as part of the continuous follow-up of companies’ performance and efforts to achieve the petrochemicals sector’s strategic objectives.
Chemist Alaa El-Din Abdel Fattah emphasized the importance of continuously improving the efficiency of production units, strengthening coordination and integration among petrochemical companies, and prioritizing projects with strong economic feasibility to support the sector’s future growth. He also praised the companies’ outstanding performance during the recent period, commending employees for maintaining stable and efficient operations despite global challenges, while reaffirming that occupational safety and health remain the sector’s highest priority.
Following the meeting, the participants toured ETHYDCO’s ethylene and polyethylene production complex, where they reviewed production operations and operating rates. During the visit, the ECHEM Chairman met with employees and expressed his appreciation for their dedication to sustaining safe and efficient operations. He stressed the importance of full compliance with occupational safety and health procedures and the prompt reporting of any observations or potential hazards to ensure operational continuity and the highest standards of performance.
Chemist Hesham Riyad, Chairman and Managing Director of ETHYDCO, affirmed that the company continues to implement its production and operational plans with high efficiency through the continuous support and follow-up of the Ministry of Petroleum and Mineral Resources and ECHEM. He added that ETHYDCO’s workforce is the company's greatest asset, noting that their professionalism and strong commitment to safety have been key to maintaining safe operations, improving performance, and achieving stable production despite regional and global challenges.
